In darkened leaves the gold-oranges glow,
A soft wind blows from the pure blue sky,
The myrtle stands mute, and the bay tree high? (…)”
So wrote Johann Wolfgang von Goethe about Italy. During Goethe’s Italy trips (1786-1788) he stayed in Rome, the Eternal City, twice.
In “Goethe´s footsteps” you walk through Rome’s historic center. A visit to Goethe´s house, the Roman home of the poet, is also on the program. Furthermore, Goethe had visited many monuments and places in the city during his trips, as described in his book ‘Italian Journey’, which you will all visit.
The guide is aimed not only at poetry fans, but to all who want to experience Rome’s historic center with the “eyes of Goethe” for once.
